HRIS / ERP Specialist (Workday)

We’re partnering with a Kansas City–based client to add an experienced HRIS / ERP Specialist to their team. This individual will serve as the internal subject matter expert for Workday Enterprise, supporting both HR and Finance modules.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of systems, data, and business operations — and enjoys collaborating cross-functionally to improve processes, optimize system performance, and enhance the overall user experience.

Position Overview

The HRIS / ERP Specialist is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, support, and optimization of Workday across Human Resources and Finance functions. This individual will ensure system integrity, support reporting and analytics needs, and help drive continuous improvement across enterprise processes.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Configuration

  • Maintain and configure Workday modules across HR (Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Compensation) and Finance (Core Financials, Accounting, AP, Financial Planning, Procurement, Analytics)
  • Implement system updates, enhancements, and new functionality aligned with business needs
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues

Data Management & Reporting

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across HR and Finance systems
  • Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards for stakeholders
  • Conduct regular audits and support compliance initiatives

Process Optimization

  • Partner with HR, Finance, and IT to streamline workflows and improve system efficiency
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements

User Support & Training

  • Provide Tier 2 support for Workday-related inquiries
  • Develop documentation and training materials for end-users
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams

Compliance & Security

  • Manage security roles and permissions in alignment with company policies
  • Support compliance with data privacy regulations and internal audit standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday experience, including configuration and reporting
  • Experience supporting both HR and Finance modules
  • Strong understanding of HR and Finance business processes
  • Proficiency in Workday reporting tools, including Calculated Fields and Advanced Reports
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday certification in HCM and/or Financial Management
  • Experience with Workday integrations and security configuration
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOX or GDPR
