Financial Systems / Data Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Financial Systems / Data Engineer to support a local Kansas City–based client on a hybrid engagement. In this role, you’ll work closely with finance, accounting, and IT stakeholders to design, enhance, and maintain critical financial systems and reporting solutions that support day-to-day business operations.
What You’ll Do
- Research, design, develop, implement, and integrate financial systems that support the firm’s finance and accounting functions
- Architect, analyze, test, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain new and existing financial applications
- Ensure system balance and coherency between Finance and Accounting applications and the broader IT infrastructure
- Analyze SQL table structures across multiple Finance & Accounting systems to support reporting and ad-hoc queries (primary data source: 3E)
- Partner with Financial and Pricing Analysts to develop reports and dashboards using Power BI and SSRS
- Build and support data integrations across legacy systems, new development, and third-party applications within a legal-industry environment
- Study and analyze data sources to identify relationships among data objects and ensure data integrity
- Develop, modify, and optimize SQL functions and stored procedures to support ETL processes
- Demonstrate advanced expertise in SSAS and SSIS, and provide guidance or training to team members as needed
- Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail while managing sensitive financial data
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with:
- SQL Server
- SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS
- Visual Studio
- Power Platform
- Azure Cloud
- .NET Framework
- Strong understanding of data modeling, reporting, and financial system integrations
- Knowledge of standard accounting practices and/or law firm operations is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
